THE BEGINNING

You are about to start a program that could have an impact on you for the rest of your life. As you discover how to better organize, study, and learn; untold opportunities can open for you. You will learn some techniques about:

  • How to make things happen for yourself.

  • How to focus.

  • How to handle information.

Many of these same achievement skills can be used in reaching life goals such as:

  • Making money.

  • Mastering a sport.

  • Learning to play a musical instrument.

You will be introduced to several ways to study smarter: (A few of the topics).

  • Self-motivation

  • Setting goals

  • Positive – self talk

  • How to manage your time

  • Note taking systems

  • The use of imagination as a learning method

  • How to build a strong memory

  • An action reading plan

  • Test taking skills and many more

The activities in this program are structured to get you involved in doing the skills. You learn these skills best by practicing them and then immediately applying them to your goals and assignments. It is recommended that you practice a new skill at least four times or more to become effective at using it. The sheer number of skills in this program may overwhelm you at first, and a new skill may feel strange and uncomfortable to you. So, do the exercises in the program a few times to learn the skill and then apply it to your schoolwork for additional practice and payoffs.

Many learning specialists tell us that we learn best when learning sessions are spaced over a period of time. Say about 45 minutes to an hour followed by a break of at least 10 to 15 minutes; accordingly, we suggest that you follow a similar pattern when interacting with this program.
